Uniteam has for years designed and built gas safe systems for clients around the world. The H2S Shelters, which are patented by Uniteam, are supplied as mobile or stationary shelters for use offshore or onshore.
In petrochemical plants, oil & gas production and wastewater treatment facilities, there is the potential for gas exposure accidents. One of the most dangerous gases is hydrogen sulfide (H2S).
10 ppb - Detected by smell.
14 ppm - STEL (Short term exposure limit: 15 minutes).
50-100 ppm - Loss of sense of smell in 3-5 min, tear in the eyes and coughing.
200-300 ppm - Marked eye and respiratory irritation, followed by severe headache.
500-700 ppm - Unconsciousness followed by death if not treated quickly. Lungs are paralyzed.
>1000 ppm - Rapid unconsciousness followed by failure of respiratory system and immediate death.
Uniteam H2S Shelters provide a safe haven for personnel to take refuge in the event of a major H2S and CH4 release. People can stay in the shelter for a minimum of 2 hours, waiting for rescue. Moreover, the engineers can handle the emergency in the operating room. When needed, they can put on the personal respirator and stop the emission outdoor.
